If you are looking for a driveway sealing service, look no further. Driveway sealing, patio sealing, re sanding and sealing, we do it all. But why should you seal your driveway or other stone surfaces?
Sealing a clean or new driveway will keep it looking good for a long time as well as protecting the stone. Sealing will also help protect the stone from the elements, weed and insects, stains and even sand loss on block paving.
Should I consider driveway sealing?
If you have imprinted and coloured concrete a sealer will add a protective layer helping to prevent discolouration or fading and even cracking. Driveways and patios are an expensive investment and when maintained really add kerb appeal and value to your property. It is much easier or more likely that spills like oil can be cleaned off whereas it could quickly penetrate and ruin an untreated surface.
Sealing will enhance the appearance of any surface and in the case of block driveways and paths it will help to keep the sand in place adding strength. Where cars are parked or there is heavy foot traffic this is vitally important to prevent movement or sinking of the blocks.
When should it be done?
There is one golden rule to applying sealers. It must be dry! Our driveway sealing is done between April and September but we are always watching the weather forecast. Driveway sealers and water do not mix and any moisture can result in 'blooming'. Blooming appears as dull, white or milky patches or marks and it is where moisture is trapped between the surface and the sealer. It can ruin the appearance of a driveway or patio. You must use an experienced and professional trader for this service.
How is it done?
First of all the surface must be clean. So we begin with a thorough clean with our professional surface cleaning and jet washing equipment. On a hot day we can let this dry and, if required, begin the re sanding. Sometimes we will leave it a day or two and come back to seal, it all depends on the conditions. Where there is sand in the joints we may choose to spray the driveway sealer on and on natural stone we may use applicators. The goal is the same, to get a nice even coating across the entire surface.
The end result is a driveway or patio where the colours in the stone look brighter, it looks brand new and will remain in good condition and last for longer. Sealing is a small investment when considering the cost of hard landscaping.
